Shantanu Mukharji IPS (retd.) is post graduate in Modern Indian history from the University of Allahabad. After serving in some communally sensitive and trouble-prone districts in the state of UP, he was deputed to the Ministry of External Affairs (Bureau of Security) and later, handpicked for the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) where he served for seven long years, overseeing the security arrangements of four successive Prime Ministers (1985-1992).
After his superannuation from the Government of India, Shantanu Mukharji served as the National Security Advisor (NSA) to the Prime Minister of Mauritius from 2010 to 2015.
