Dr Krishan Kant Paul, a PhD in Chemistry, joined the IPS in 1970. During the earlier phase of his tenure in Delhi Police, he had played a significant role in Asian Games, NAM and CHOGM.

He investigated and supervised several critical cases, including Indira Gandhi's assassination, Hanse Cronje match-fixing, Phoolan Devi, many bomb blasts and terrorist-related cases with international ramifications. He headed the team investigating the Tehelka Tapes and systematically scrutinized the sensitive MOD files.

He has worked for about eight years in Central Agencies.

He became the CP of Delhi Police after 34 years of outstanding service.

During his tenure, some innovative modernization initiatives were introduced. After taking voluntary retirement from IPS, he joined the constitutional position as a Member of UPSC.

Later, he was appointed Governor of Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, with additional charges of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram for varying durations of time.

He regularly contributes articles on constitutional law and matters of public interest to various newspapers.
