Acting on intelligence inputs indicating the presence of Naxals in the Mainpur forest region, joint teams comprising the Chhattisgarh Police, E-30, STF, and COBRA have been conducting an anti-Naxal operation since Thursday morning. Since then, intermittent engagement with the outlaws has been taking place between security forces and Naxals. It is expected that other senior Naxals may have been killed during the exchange of fire.
The Government of India has set an ambitious target of eliminating the Naxal menace by March 2026 by pooling all available resources.
